Chettinad Food Festival at Chennai’s Southern Coasta Print

Chettinad mutton chops (succulent mutton chops slowly roasted with pearl onions, mustard and red chillies), Karaikudi meen kozhambu (seer cubes simmered in khus khus gravy redolent with spices), Aachi’s Yeral Masala (Grandma’s recipe; prawns simmered in spicy red chili, tomato and coconut gravy). Vegetarian dishes include Puttu Kozhakattai (tempered steamed rice flour dumplings from Chettinadu), Thakkali Saadam (tomato rice), Venkaya Vellai Poondu Kozhambu (Pearl onion and garlic simmered in spicy tamarind gravy), Chettinadu Kari Kai Kuruma (assorted vegetables combined in coconut poppy seed gravy, enhanced with aniseed and spices), Ennai Katrikkai Kozhambu (egg plant curried in tangy tamarind - onion gravy). English Kai Kari Perattal (select vegetables stir fried with Chettinadu masala). Various sumptuous deserts are also being served. The food festival is open till 9 August for lunch and dinner.
