Gollapudi Srinivas National AwardFilmmaker Paresh Mokashi for his film Harish Chandrachi Factory (Marathi) will receive the Gollapudi Srinivas National Award on 12th August at Kamaraj Arangam, Chennai. Harishchandrachi Factory is a period film (1911), throws light on the father of Indian cinema, Dada Saheb Phalke, his trials and tribulations of making the first ever film in India, Raja Harishchandra. The award will be presented to him by Veteran actress Rekha and Oscar award winner Rasool Pookutty. The guests of honor include Rakeysh Mehra (director of Rang de Basanti and Delhi - 6) and Nagesh Kukunoor (Iqbal and Dor). Sruthi Haasan, the daughter of actor Kamal Haasan will be the master of ceremony. K J Yesudas will entertain the gathering with his songs. The previous winners of this prestigious award include Leslie Carvalho for English Film The Out House, Shyama Prasad for Malayalam film Agnisakshi, Manju Bora for the Assamese film Baibhab, Subrata Sen for the Bengali film Ek Je Ache Kanya, Janaki Viswanathan for the Tamil film Kutty and Aamir khan for his film Taare Zameen Par. Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Foundation was established in 1998 and it envisages perpetuating the memory of Gollapudi Srinivas, a young director, who tragically passed away in an accident during the shoot of his maiden venture in 1992. The Gollapudi Srinivas National Award carries a cash award of Rs 1, 50,000 and a memento.
