No. 0171 Dadar – Nagapattinam Special will leave Dadar at 10.45 hrs. on 27.08.2010 and arrive Nagapattinam at 23.45 hrs. the next day. T.No.0172 Nagapattinam – Dadar Special will leave Nagapattinam at 21.00 hrs. on 29.08.2010 and arrive Dadar at 11.25 hrs. the third day. The trains will stop at Kalyan, Pune, Daund, Solapur, Gulbarga, Wadi, Raichur, Mantralayam Road, Adoni, Guntakal, Gooty, Tadipatri, Kondapuram, Yerraguntala, Cuddappah, Razampet, Renigunta, Arakkonam, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur and Tiruvarur. 3 University rankholers were among th 176 graduands at the 12th Convocation of the Hindustan College of Arts & Science on whom degrees were conferred by Col Dr Thiruvasagam, Vice Chancellor, University of Madras. Dr (Mrs) Elizabeth Verghese, Chairperson, Hindustan Group of Institutions presided over the function. Dr Prem C Marthandan, Director – Projects, Hindustan Group of Institutions, Dr Susan Marthandan, Director, Hindustan College of Arts & Science, Padur, Dr V J Philip, Principal, HCAS and several others including faculty, students along with their parents participated. Delivering the Presidential Address, Dr (Mrs) Elizabeth Verghese, Chairperson, Hindustan Group of Institutions declared that students must aim to become entrepreneurs so that they can become job providers instead of becoming job seekers. Mrs Verghese recalled the founder’s personal motto of “make every man a success and no man a failure” and hoped that today’s graduates would emerge as achievers in their chosen vocations. In his felicitation address, Dr Prem Marthandan, Director – Projects, Hindustan Group of Institutions declared that today was a red letter day in the careers of the graduands. “Today is also the day when you will stop being followers and move on to become leaders. Education is only one component of wisdom in any person and I do hope that you are all endowed with immense wisdom. That would be the best tribute from you all for your alma mater” he declared. Team TCS represented by Deepthi Aravind, Sandeep Bhat and Ashish Shetty won the keenly contested South Zone Regional Finals of the 36thNational Competition for Young Managers in Chennai yesterday. Team Robert Bosch represented by A S NAgesh, Sandeep Kamat and Sudhindra Bharath were declared the runners-up in the contest that witnessed 44 teams participating from reputed corporates such as TCS, Robert Bosch, Larsen & Toubro, Madura Garments, Rajshree Cements, HINDALCO, Britannia, Infosys, Tata Blue Scope, Tata Projects and even public sector enterprises such as NTPC and Bank of Maharashtra. Speaking before the declaration of results, Prof P T Srinivasan, HOD, Dept. of Management Studies, University of Madras declared that the contest had evoked very high standards from participants and that it had been a tough job to shortlist and decide the winners as also the runners-up. A transparent system of evaluation had been put in place with 100 marks each for the written report and the oral presentations. Announcing the winners, Group Captain Vijayakumar VSM, Executive Director, MMA stated that if the quality of industry was demonstrative of the dynamics displayed in the competition over the preceding days, India may not need to wait for the 2050s to emerge the super power, but could advance it by a couple of decades, he asserted. He stated that in the past, the south zone winners had emerged triumphant at the national finals and he hoped that Team TCS would emerge winners this time as well. |
